Concrete Testing

Concrete...tall buildings rest on it; wide spans of parking garages are made of it; trucks and cars drive over it; buildings housing thousands of people are built with it.

Independent testing labs like BS & T Labs make sure these structures meet the specifications established by the respective design and engineering teams.

Using time-honored tests on site during the concrete pour, such as slump, air, and concrete cylinders, as well as the more sophisticated tests in the laboratory, BS & T Labs carefully tests and documents the relevant qualities of the concrete, following all ASTM and ACI standards.

Other tests such as the Windsor Probe, the Windsor Pin, the Swiss Hammer, and coring are performed on site after the concrete has hardened to verify that specifications have been met.

BS & T Labs also uses the computerized rolling floor profiler (F-Meter) to test the levelness and flatness of concrete floors, an essential feature of modern, automated retrieval storage systems.
