Company Profile
BS & T Labs, Inc. provides a variety of independent drilling and testing services to architects, engineers, contractors, and owners. We handle a wide variety of soil and concrete testing services in both the field and laboratory for many large and small companies.
BS & T Labs, Inc. originated as
Borings Soils & Testing Company in State
College, PA in 1953 when Dr. Louis Berger, a professor at Penn State University,
and Joseph C. Mehalick, superintendent of a coal mine in Centre County, saw the
need for an independent soils testing company.
The lab was relocated to Harrisburg in 1954 in a move that brought together the lab, a drilling division, and an engineering company. The company grew steadily during the next several decades serving clients throughout the east coast of the United States and in a number of foreign countries.
In 1981 Mr. Mehalick purchased Borings Soils & Testing Company from his partners and in 1986 added the concrete testing division through the acquisition of a company in Allentown, PA. A new company was formed called BS & T Labs, Inc.
Today, BS & T Labs has become a leader in the areas of soil and concrete testing throughout the region.
